Knob Noster Public Schools is pleased to announce that Michael Franklin has been selected as the head football coach at Knob Noster High School for the 2022-2023 school year.

"I am very excited about Coach Franklin being named the new head football coach at Knob Noster High School,” Knob Noster Activities Director Mark Carey said. “Coach Franklin is an extremely positive individual/coach and will be highly engaged in not only the football team but with our parents, staff, and community as well. I look forward to working alongside Coach Franklin as we continue to build competitive, positive athletic programs."

Along with coaching football, Franklin will also be in charge of the weights and conditioning program in the high school’s Physical Education and Athletics Department and serve as an assistant track coach.

Franklin joins Knob Noster after spending the past nine years at Smith-Cotton High School.

Before his time coaching football and basketball at Smith-Cotton, Franklin coached football and track at Wentworth Military Academy for two years.

“We are very pleased to recruit Michael Franklin as head coach to lead in the development of a high quality football program for our students,” Knob Noster Superintendent Dr. Jerrod Wheeler said. “Coach Franklin is committed to uniting our parents and community around our student athletes as we strive to establish a competitive program that is founded in respect and quality character among all participants.”

A Sedalia native, Franklin was a three-sport athlete in football, basketball, and track in high school. He graduated from Missouri Valley College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2010 where he also played defensive back for the football team.

Franklin earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Williams Woods University in 2020.

Michael and his wife Whitney reside in Sedalia with their two daughters, Oliviana and Mila.

“I am very excited and honored to lead the Knob Noster football program,” Franklin said. “I look forward to working with the exceptional staff at Knob Noster School District and building positive, lasting relationships with the great community.”
