Knob Noster Public Schools has been awarded the 2021 Lt. Gen. (Ret) H.G. "Pete" Taylor Partnership of Excellence Award by the Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC) during its Virtual National Training Seminar.

The annual award encourages and reflects the outstanding partnerships formed between military installations and school districts that serve military- and veteran-connected children. Winning partnerships are selected from schools and military installations around the world who celebrate the military child in exceptional and sustainable ways.

"On behalf of Lt. Gen. Taylor, Congratulations to this year's winners who reflect the best of our military communities and serve as an example for other to emulate," said MCEC President and CEO Dr. Becky Porter. "Thank you for your initiative, creativity, selfless service, and dedication to others. Your success continues the legacy of those before you and reinforces Lt. Gen. Taylor's belief that goodness starts at the local level."

Knob Noster Public Schools' Partnership of Excellence Award recognizes the Project: PARTNERS (Preparing Adolescents for Relevant Training: Nurturing Early Responsibility and Success) program which provides career exploration and on-the-job supports for students with developmental disabilities to prepare them for competitive employment. Project: PARTNERS was delivered through a collaborative partnership between Knob Noster Public Schools and Whiteman Air Force Base, Exceptional Family Member Program Office, Flight Chiefs, Work Site Supervisors and Employees, a Knob Noster High School Community-Based Instructor, Stars and Strikes Bowling Center, Whiteman Inn, and Whiteman Library.

Dr. Jerrod Wheeler, Knob Noster Superintendent of Schools shared, "We are incredibly proud of the Project: PARTNERS initiative, which provides another example of what can be accomplished when public schools and installations work together to enhance education quality. When it comes to public education, ALL means ALL. ALL students in public education deserve opportunities for success in college and career...not SOME students...ALL students! Project: PARTNERS helps provide those opportunities. We are honored to once again be recognized by the Military Child Education Coalition as a third-time recipient of the prestigious Lt Gen Pete Taylor Partnership of Excellence Award. We are very proud of our students' success and we look to their future with confidence and high expectations!"
